Ye Can Do Nothing 2

John 15:5: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Getting a little understanding of how totally helpless I was without Him contributed greatly to my willingness to receive Jesus. Since I received Him, understanding that I cannot live a life that is pleasing to Him without His help contributes directly to what He accomplishes in me and in my life.

Colossians 2:6: As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

I could only receive Him in my own total helplessness and in total dependence upon Him. And I can only walk in Him in my own total helplessness and in total dependence upon Him. We might all be helped to depend totally upon Him if we consider just a few of the things we could not do without Him.

We could not exist, live or move, physically or spiritually.

Acts 17:28a: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; . . .

We would not have been created.

John 1:3: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

None of our needs would be met.

Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

We would never be acceptable to the Father.

Ephesians 1:6: To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Our sins would never be forgiven.

Revelation 1:5: And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

We could never do anything right.

Jeremiah 10:23: O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

We could never come to Jesus or be resurrected.

John 6:44: No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

We could never have eternal life.

1 John 5:11: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Do we understand how desperately we need to trust Him for everything every moment of every day?

2 Peter 1:3: According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
